Meeting Will Discuss Ideas For EU Funds

The Old Wesleyan Chapel

The Old Wesleyan Chapel

How would you spend millions of pounds to make Scilly better?

Tonight, islanders will be asked for ideas, which could influence how much of a £592m EU funding pot we’ll get for the islands.

Emily Kent from the Local Enterprise Partnership will explain the new round of European funding at the Old Wesleyan Chapel tonight.

The Council’s Strategic Investment Manager, Diana Mompoloki, promises this won’t be just a talking shop.

Cornwall and Scilly have to work together to access the money, so Scilly’s needs should be taken seriously, she says.

Diana feels there’s a need for a fund for smaller grants and businesses loans here.

Islanders could decide what needs specifically funding.

Diana says money could be put aside for improving public spaces around the town, which she says look tired in some areas.

Cash could be ring fenced for public realm works, if there’s demand tonight.

The session starts at 7pm.
