A St Mary’s publican remains in a critical but stable condition in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth this morning, following a serious accident in Scilly on Wednesday night.

Barry Davey, the landlord of the Atlantic Inn, who is also chairman of the licensees’ group Pubwatch, appears to have fallen downstairs when returning home on Wednesday night.

Barry was found by fellow staff who share the accommodation on Porthcressa Road.

He was medically evacuated to the mainland.

Jeremy Mitchell of St Austell Brewery says the company is shocked by Barry’s accident and their thoughts are with him and his family.

The company is in close contact with his relatives and is awaiting news. They wish him well during this upsetting time, says Jeremy.
