The Steamship Company has put an emergency plan in place to move people to and from Scilly this weekend.

No flights have left St Mary’s today due to fog at either Scilly or Lands End.

Saturday’s flying schedule could also be affected as poor visibility is forecast, so Skybus passengers are being given the option of alternative transport aboard the Scillonian III.

Tomorrow’s sailing to Scilly was already heavily booked, even before the poor weather affected flying. So the company has arranged for two return sailings of the Scillonian III on Saturday.

They have brought forward the morning sailing to 8.45am so they can offer a double sailing to and from the islands and also work around the very low tides.

The boat will be due into St Mary’s at 11.30am. It will depart St Mary’s at 12.15pm, arriving in Penzance at 3.00pm.

The second sailing will depart Penzance at 3.45pm, arriving in St Mary’s at 6.30pm. It will depart St Mary’s at 7.15pm, arriving back in Penzance at 10.00pm.

Passengers departing from Penzance are being warned to allow extra time to reach the port in light of the Golowen Festival in the town, which is continuing over the weekend.
