Clean Sweep For Youngsters In Judo Gradings

judo club 2012Youngster from the St Mary’s Judo Club have spent the last three days in the sports hall being graded and all 37 of them have gone up a level.

Club President Tom Gray and his wife Jacky from Carn Brea Club assessed the children.

The grading started a day earlier on Thursday as the club arranged a fundraiser for more mats, adding to the money already donated by the Council.

They’re needed because of increased demand for the training according to Chairman Pete Reynolds.

13 youngsters are on the waiting list and Pete says he’s delighted that there is so much interest.

He’s launching an appeal to try and find judo trainers who can help the club expand.

Pete says from 4th July, club member Dave Stone will also begin a course for adult islanders.
