Antarctic Exhibition Went Well Says Organiser

The organiser of last week’s three-day exhibition on Antarctica is delighted with how it went.

Mary Cleveland arranged the talks and drama to mark 100 years since the visit of Scott’s boat, Terra Nova to St Mary’s.

Two of Captain Scott’s great grandchildren, four members of the Oates family and eight descendants of Edward Wilson were present.

Mary says that’s “not bad for a small gathering on an off-shore island.”

She says she has been thrilled with the feedback and an email from Jake Wilson said, “we thought it had the nicest atmosphere, and the best programme of any of the centenary events we’ve been to.”

The event was supported in part with a grant from the Council and from the Scilly Lottery.
