Silence Is Golden For Islands’ Brownies

brownies sponsored silence june 2013

At least £100 was raised last night by St Mary’s Brownies in an hour-long sponsored silence on Holgate’s Green.

The nineteen girls need the money to fund a trip away to celebrate the Brownies centenary next year. The group hope to go for an extended period and not just a day trip.

Lilani was one of the Brownies taking part. She completed the challenge but didn’t find it much fun. She says she read a book and threw paper aeroplanes at her friends to relieve the boredom.

Fiona Robson was impressed that the girls kept quiet for so long although she said she had lots of notes handed to her, particularly by those wanting to use the loo!
