Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that at approximately 8.30pm a man believed to be a Dutch national in his sixties was seriously injured after falling from the mast of his yacht.

He was evacuated by the RNAS Culdrose rescue helicopter but died in hospital from his injuries.

It is understood that the yacht, the Windrose, had been boarded as part of a Border Force operation shortly before the incident.
