Comedy Trio Fascinating Aïda Playing Concerts In Scilly

fascinating AidaThe long running, singing comedy trio, Fascinating Aïda, will be playing two concerts in Scilly this summer.

The group have been performing together for thirty years and recently became an internet sensation when their comedy video about budget travel, ‘Cheap Flights’ got over 4 million hits on YouTube.

The tour dates in Scilly came about by chance. The women regularly play a charity event at Tremayne Hall in Mylor, Cornwall, but Steve Hutt, who runs the centre, said this year the venue wasn’t available. So he suggested they came to Scilly.

Steve says they love playing small venues, because of the connection they get with the audience, and they’ve regularly visited islands such as Alderney and Sark.

The group, who regularly appear on Radio 4, have a ‘pretty intelligent’ sense of humour, says Steve, although it’s definitely adult and not for the faint hearted, he adds.

Steve’s friend here on Scilly, Tim Fortey has helped organise the gig, which is being sponsored by the Star Castle Hotel and Skybus.

Zoe Parry from the Star Castle says they’re pleased to be hosting Fascinating Aïda as part of their growing events programme.  The group are staying at the hotel and holding a VIP Champagne reception there following their performances.

They’ll be performing at the Five Islands School on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July and tickets can be obtained from the TIC, price £15.

The Star Castle Hotel is also offering special weekend packages for the event.
