Islands’ Pavilion Gets Silver Medal At Royal Cornwall Show

The Islands’ pavilion  at the Royal Cornwall Show has been judged the second best trade stand at the event.

The 40ft by 60ft building, made out of wooden pallets painted blue and white, is full of images of the islands, local arts and crafts and islands’ produce.

Up to 200 people an hour have visited the Scilly exhibition over the last two days and they’ve been encouraged to enter a contest to win a holiday here. The contest is being used to collect email addresses for marketing purposes

There are around 1,000 exhibitors at the 3-day event and Dave Meneer of the Islands Partnership, Scilly’s tourism body, says he’s delighted that the judges scored the islands display so highly during their unannounced inspection

Dave says the highly creative stand was logistically hard to put together but he would like to do it again next year.

The group will have a post-event debrief and discussion to decide whether they’ll attend again in 2014.

30,000 people are expected to visit on the final day of the event at Wadebridge, today.
