Bishop Of Truro Visiting Scilly Next Week

bishop truro tim thorntonThe Bishop of Truro Tim Thornton will have a busy schedule during his visit to Scilly next week.

He’ll be over on Monday to visit St Martin’s residents before addressing St Mary’s Rotarians in the evening.

The main purpose of his visit is to preside over a confirmation service on Bryher on Tuesday evening.

Canon Paul Miller says he can’t find any record of the service previously at All Saints Church as they’ve always been held on Tresco.

Seven islanders will be confirmed in the ceremony, which enables a baptised person to confirm the promises made on their behalf as a child.

The Bishop will spend most of the day on that island but will cross over to Tresco for a short time too.

He’s visiting St Agnes first thing on Wednesday morning to view the new church stained glass window, before concluding his visit at the Five Islands School on St Mary’s.

On Tuesday, Bishop Tim will present the morning thought live on Radio Scilly.
