New services due to start at the Health Centre this month have been delayed until the beginning of July.

The practice had been planning to launch their newly rebuilt pharmacy and optometry service on June 1st, but Lead GP, Dr John Garman, says final paperwork and contractual issues mean it’ll take a short time longer.

He said the new optician’s room is ready to go and they’re already using the new pharmacy space, which has been relocated to the rear of the surgery. But legally it’ll still be classified as a dispensary for another month.

When ready, the new pharmacy will provide enhanced services, such as dispensing replacement medications to visitors without them having to see a GP and extended over-the-counter sales.

And the new optometry service will be offered two days every month by a Penzance-based optician.
