Lower Town Quay, St Martin’s

St Martin’s has a new public loo.

The lack of toilet provision around the Lower Town area since the hotel closed in February has concerned some islanders. With the Seven Stones Inn also closed, it’s meant nearest toilet for visitors has been at Higher Town, a significant walk for some people, at the other end of the island.

Anna Cawthray, who writes the weekly St Martin’s What’s On sheet says the new ‘luxury’ single toilet unit has been installed on Lower Town Car Park and will be convenient for people using the quay there.

She says local councillor, Christine Savill pushed hard to get the facility and has kindly offered to keep it clean and tidy, although Anna says other islanders will also be chipping in to help.

It’s been paid for by the Duchy.
