Islands’ Youngsters Filmed For BBC Children’s Channel

sealsFour local youngsters have been filmed by the BBC snorkelling with grey seals off St Martin’s yesterday.

The CBBC channel is launching an hour-long Saturday morning show and the film made yesterday will air during the wild feature on July 13th.

Director Adam Oldroyd said they chose Scilly because it’s wildlife is so unique. He said they were keen to film the seals and they needed to get the footage quickly, so Scilly was an ideal place to come.

And he says the islands didn’t disappoint.

A number of islands children wanted to take part in the programme and Loveday Lewin was one of the four who were picked. She said they spent the day in a RIB snorkelling off the Eastern Isles.

It was the first time the youngsters had been so close to the seals and Loveday said it was an amazing experience.
