Regular Health Visits To Resume In Scilly

hugh town from garrisonRegular health visits will resume in Scilly after staffing issues limited the service for several months.

The previous Health Visitor is on a career break and there have been problems getting someone to cover the role.

But at last Thursday’s Children’s Trust Board meeting, Alison Cook from Cornwall Foundation Trust said the service will now be provided by a professional visiting for two days a week from the mainland.

Cllr Christine Savill says it’s an issue that has concerned islanders for months, particularly those with young families, and it’s good that something is being put in place.

Alison also announced that there are plans to recruit a part time Primary Mental Health Worker, School Nurse and Health Support Worker specifically for Scilly.

It’s hoped that all roles will be filled by September.

Lead member for Children’s Services, David Pearson, said the local provision of support services to Children and Families has been a recent success story.

He said it’s gratifying this will continue into the future.
