Bryher 10k Fundraiser Proves Popular

bryher townThe organisers of yesterday’s Bryher 10k Run say they might consider running the event again next year.

Amy Langdon says they had an excellent turnout for the event with boats from every island. And some participants said it’s the most scenic 10k they’ve ever run.

Seventeen people started the event, although two pulled out en route, but Amy says they didn’t lose anyone and nobody injured anything.

Fastest runner was Tresco visitor Daniel Owen in 43 minutes 48 seconds, while Dave Mumford  came in second with 44 minutes 22 seconds..

The afternoon continued with a fair in the field opposite Bryher shop, with stalls, a bouncy castle and a coconut shy.

The crowds were entertained by local musicians David Dan, Andrew Hulands and Jack Carter.

The event was organised to raise funds for the Cornwall Air Ambulance trek up Mount Kilimanjaro, being undertaken by Amy and friend Ginny Hulands. They need to raise £8,000 to take part in the 8-day fundraising adventure in September.
