Park House Signs Up Volunteers For Resident Activities

There’ll be more entertainment laid on for Park House residents in the future, following yesterday’s awareness day.

Three islanders signed up for singing sessions in the residential home and at least one person living there will receive regular visits from a new local befriender.

Head of Adult Care Clive Acraman wanted islanders to know about the personal care plans now used by the home. They list residents’ interests and experiences and it’s hoped that staff can pair them with volunteers with similar interests.

He says befriending doesn’t mean you have to spend all of your time in the home. They want to find people who will take residents out for gardening sessions, attending choral society events or going to the folk nights.

Clive says staffing levels mean they can’t always give resident’s activities outside the home every day, but with extra volunteers, they could achieve that.
