We should know who has been elected to the islands’ Council later this lunchtime.

The result of the election on St Mary’s and St Martin’s is due be announced at 1pm and we’ll bring you the declaration direct from the Old Wesleyan Chapel on Radio Scilly.

There was a steady turnout for the poll yesterday and voters had to queue for short periods on St Mary’s.

Six staff plus the Returning Officer and his Deputy will be working in the Old Wesleyan Chapel this morning.

Any new Councillors selected will be signed in, in front of the interim Chief Executive, Barry Keel.

There will be an induction day in mid May, when members will meet Chief Officers and learn who does what in the Council.

I take it you don’t vote in the general election then Dave? Because in order to validate voting you’d have to stand yourself, yeah? So all 60m of us will be standing for parliament at the next election. All that poster/flyer work for printing presses should kickstart the economy nicely!

We pass judgement BY voting, Dave. That’s the point of the exercise. Otherwise everyone would get 1 vote each. From themselves..

If people wish to pass judgement on those standing they should have stood themselves. If you want change and believe you have a valid point go for election, if not shut up!
