Pupils of the Tresco and Bryher school base have been learning about the impact of deforestation on the world’s rainforests.

Their destruction in Indonesia and an illegal trade in primates for meat or for use as pets has brought terrible suffering for some animals there. And as part of their project, the infants have been fundraising for International Animal Rescue.

The charity has rescued 62 orang-utans at their Borneo base.

The local children have baked and sold cakes around Tresco to raise £155 for the charity.
