Skybus Cancel All Flights On Tuesday

skybus twin otterSkybus has cancelled all flights to and from Scilly on Tuesday 23rd April.

Flights were suspended due to mainland fog this afternoon and as the forecast looks similarly poor, the decision has been taken to postpone all flights from Land’s End, Newquay and Exeter  tomorrow.

Skybus say that they hope flights will resume on Wednesday morning.

The Steamship Company is contacting all passengers about the revised schedules. Anyone planning to travel during this time can contact Skybus on 0845 710 5555

I bet there are some red faces in the issco the ops dept this morning.
The more cynical might think that there were not many people booked on the boat, so in order to save a few quid on aviation fuel they used the forecast as an excuse to save some money.

Shocking service, but this is what we’ve come to expect

    Light bookings and no competition?

They wouldn’t be so quick to put plane customers on the boat if they were made to refund the difference in fares. Saw very little fog this morning on webcams. With one operator I suppose it’s to be expected.

Cancelling the flights because the forecast says there’s going to be fog? Is the forecast always right? 2 weather sights I looked at today which are normally right showed no fog or mist with good visibility.

Skybus are right to contact customers to let them know there could be a delay or flight cancellation but as the customer has paid for the flight surely the customer should be the one making the decision whether to go to the airport or be transferred to the boat.

I would like to think then that Skybus would refund the difference between the flight and the boat, if not a nice little earner for Skybus.
