Council Wants To Hear Views On Childcare

childrens services signParents, grandparents and carers are being asked to share their views about childcare provision on the islands tomorrow.

The Council’s Children’s Services department has hired a consultant, Ann Van Dyke, to hear people’s needs as part of the exercise. The government wants local authorities to assess local need and demand for childcare provision as part of their ‘Achieving Two-Year-Olds’ agenda.

Helen McGuinness says the information will help the Town Hall work out where resources need to be prioritised.

And although the authority may not be able to provide additional services, some commercial operators will attend tomorrow and get a chance to hear if there are any gaps in provision.

The meeting is being held on Tuesday at 10.30am in the main hall at Carn Thomas.

I do hope that the possibility of organising the survey
    “in house” was fully explored.
We must be aware that funds are tight.
