Misunderstanding Over Airport Shelterbox Collection

shelter box 2Organisers of the Rotary Club Shelterbox collection might want to change the wording on their display box at the airport.

That’s after police were called on Friday afternoon following reports that a man who had been working on the islands had taken a blanket from the box.

PC’s Faye Webb and Mat Collier arrived on the scene and the man’s luggage was unloaded and the blanket retrieved.

The red-faced builder explained that he had just followed the offer to look through the Shelterbox contents and, when he read that donations were welcomed, he assumed that the box contents were for sale in aid of the cause. He had left a cash donation.

Officers understood it was a misunderstanding and the man was able to catch the 6.30pm flight.
