New Tourist Map Installed On St Mary’s Quay

st marys quay mapCruise ship passengers coming ashore today will know where to go and what to do on St Mary’s thanks to a new island map.

Harbourmaster Dale Clark has installed the guide to the island on the quayside fuel kiosk. It faces passengers opposite the Scillonian III check-in office.

The map highlights places to go but remains generic, listing types of business as pubs or restaurants, to account for future changes of name or ownership.

It also marks the location of the new Tourist Information Centre, set to open in June at the Porthcressa Shelter.

Dale says he’s been keen to improve signage, information and the general appearance of the quay to better serve visitors.

Today the cruise ship Discovery will bring 639 passengers to both St Mary’s and Tresco from St Mary’s Roads. There are also 317 crew on board.

Travelling from Dublin, the ship will leave for St Peter Port in Guernsey tonight at 7pm.
