Creative islanders are being invited to showcase and sell their art during a fundraiser on St Agnes.

The Island Hall committee is planning an art exhibition on Sunday 12th May, the second day of the Arts Scilly festival.

Cash raised will go towards facilities for the new community hall. Work starts this autumn on the scheme, which has secured over £2.1m of Local Action Group, European and Council cash.

At a similar event last year, exhibitors donated 20% of their sales to the cause and one of the organisers, Maddy Goudsmit, says she hopes that they’ll raise £2,000 again.

She said they had artworks, pottery, jewellery knitwear and even hats sent in from all over the country and managed to sell everything in the end.

A lot of the work was inspired by the Isles of Scilly, says Maddy, often with a sea theme.
