New Scilly Head Teacher Hired

The Five Islands School

The Five Islands School

The Five Islands School governing body has appointed a new head teacher who will start in September.

The school has been without a head since Bryce Wilby resigned last July.

But the successful applicant won’t be named just yet. Chairman of governors, Ben Julian, says they have asked to remain anonymous so they can inform their current school that they will be leaving.

Ben says he is pleased with the calibre of all three final applicants who travelled over to Scilly earlier this month for, “a very thorough and tough four days of tasks, presentations and formal interviews.”

A fourth applicant withdrew on the second day of the interview process when they realised that the post-16 education arrangements, where students continue studies on the mainland, were not what they wanted for their child.

Ben says he will share information about their appointee soon.

    says it all really …….
“A fourth applicant withdrew on the second day of the interview process when they realised that the post-16 education arrangements, where students continue studies on the mainland, were not what they wanted for their child.”

Good grief- had the applicant done any research before applying?
Had this not been made explicit in the application pack?

What faith can you have in an appointing body that let even shortlisted this person?

This situation has been going on for almost 20 years now
