Another Quality Mark For Scilly’s Lifelong Learning

lifelong learning signThe Council’s Lifelong Learning unit has received another quality mark, just weeks after the Carn Thomas unit received a favourable Ofsted inspection.

Manager Jo Evans told members that the department had gained Matrix accreditation for their information, advice and guidance.

Chairman of community services, Richard McCarthy, said it was a “feather in their cap.” The grading means that staff at Carn Thomas won’t now have to pay the careers service in Plymouth for information, which they pass on to locals.

It could also open up new funding opportunities, as the team at Carn Thomas will be able to bid for European and Skills Funding Agency grants that they have not been able to access previously.
