Airport To Remain Closed For A Further Week

lands end airportLand’s End Airport is to remain closed until at least Saturday 9th February.

That will mark nearly eight weeks during which the airport has been unable to take passengers to and from the Isles of Scilly.

A Steamship Company spokesperson said the runways continue to recover slowly after further rain. They said premature use “will only lead to damage which will worsen this situation.”

Passengers affected will be contacted by the company and alternative arrangements will be made to fly with Skybus via Newquay Airport.

Skybus have apologised to passengers for the disruption and have offered their assistance to resolve any problems.

The Western Morning News today again features the airfield near Perranporth which is for sale for just £1.49M. Apparently it has three fully serviceable runways plus ancillary buildings and only 11 miles from Truro. Why doesn’t Skybus bite the bullet and go for that as their single point of departure in Cornwall..??
