The man who oversaw St Mary’s hospital leaving direct NHS ownership for a community-organisation is going back to the NHS.

Chief Executive, Kevin Baber is quitting Peninsula Community Health to take up a role as chief operating officer at the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust in Derriford.

Kevin spent time on the islands in June 2011 explaining his vision for the future of hospital care in Scilly to hospital staff whose employment was transferred from the NHS.

Peninsula Community Health gained operational control of our hospital, school and district nursing services in 2011, operating under an NHS contract for at least four-and-a-half years.

The Trust will have time to find Kevin’s replacement, as he won’t start his new job in Devon until later in the spring.
