Mystery Over Tesco Delivery Problems

Some deliveries of Tesco food to the islands were suspended last week, although the supermarket’s head office doesn’t appear to know why.

The supermarket giant recently claimed they have 400 shoppers in Scilly.

Radio Scilly received a call from an St Mary’s resident who tried to book an online order from Tesco on the 31st January, but was refused by the system.

She rang the Penzance store who told her this was due to problems with the sailings of the Gry Maritha, due to the weather.

When we contacted Tesco’s head office, they told us orders where not being delivered because the Gry wasn’t running and once the weather improves and the boat resumes service, they’ll be able to deliver to the islands again.

However, when we got back to them to tell them the Gry Maritha has indeed been sailing over the Christmas period, they responded by saying: “We have double-checked our ordering system and our customers have been receiving their deliveries as normal.“

Anyone still experiencing difficulties is encouraged to ring Tesco’s customer services team.

Shame the IOS wholesalers are not there anymore, think islanders will have to get used to this kind of scenario now.
