Old Dribblers Retain Cup

The Old Dribblers, the team of over 35 year old footballers, have retained the cup for the annual Old Versus Young Men Boxing Day match.

16 older players turned out for the traditional kick about on The Garrison yesterday.

The 1-1 draw means the older men keep the title having won 5-4 in 2011.

The Man of the Match, Joe Badcock, proved that experience can beat age. One of the organisers, Steve Watt, says Joe was outstanding at the centre of defence.

Both sides had chances to win, but the wind meant several shots ballooned over the bar. A heavy downpour twenty minutes into the game didn’t dampen spirits and the men played on.

Steve says the Old Dribblers also celebrated the hardest in the Scillonian Club through the rest of the afternoon.
