TV Exposure Gives Boost To Visitor Enquiries

Scilly’s Tourist Information Centre says the Islands’ national TV exposure on BBC’s ‘The One Show’ last week has given a significant boost to visitor enquiries.

The show featured photographer Jimmy Crawford taking photographs from a number of picturesque locations on Tresco and St Mary’s.

Julian Pearce said there were 3,225 visits to the web site on Monday 26th November, the day the programme aired, and a further 1061 the following day. That’s up from 627 on the preceding Sunday.

Julian says the challenge now is to keep those people who made enquiries engaged with the islands and persuade them to book, rather than put us on a list of places they’d, “like to visit one day.”

But he says it shows the value and importance of this style of publicity.
