Fire Crew Tackle Tresco Toilet Fire

The fire broke out in the waiting room toilet block

Fire crew from Tresco and St Mary’s attended a blaze on the quay at New Grimsby on Saturday lunchtime.

A fire started in a hand-dryer in the waiting room toilets, just after 1pm.

Tresco Estate’s Mike Nelhams says the island’s fire fighters made a ‘splendid’ entrance, some in the fire engine and another three crewmembers following in a golf buggy.

He says there was lots of black smoke but there wasn’t much damage.
