Plans To Install Solar Panel At Normandy Pool

The Council has applied to install a solar panel in the meadow at the side of Normandy Pool.

They say it’s in line with their renewable energy policies although not all neighbours are keen.

Steve Asten has written on behalf of four other locals who don’t have internet access. He is concerned that the rain will make noise when it falls onto the solar array.

Steve says a downpour on the pool roof is like someone playing drums and it is, “unbearable.”

Climate Control officer David Senior has written to planners in response. He doesn’t think the panels would make additional noise. David writes that he has his own panels at home, 25m from his bedroom, don’t make a noise.

The Council state that there would be no visual impact of the ground-mounted panels. The planning committee will have the final say on the 22nd November.

Can I just confirm what Steve says; we swim at Normandy with Brian’s grandsons every Saturday afternoon, and really appreciate having the facility to do so. However three weeks ago we swam during that really bad storm…we are still talking about it -the noise on the roof was phenomenal. I can’t imagine what it must be like having to live alongside it. Yes that perhaps was the extreme, but the constant noise of a ‘normal’ rainstorm must be hard to live with. Quite what the relevance of Mr Senior’s panels (whoever he is) has to do with Normandy, beggars belief. This article states at a distance of 25m – no wonder he can’t hear any noise!!!!!!!! That’s eightytwo feet away!

They’d be better of placing a car park in the field as it would be more useful both to the Normandy pool users and the Normandy residents.
