St Agnes Company Up For Green Award

The Spirit of St Agnes

A local boating business has been nominated in this year’s Cornwall Sustainability Awards.

St Agnes Boating has been shortlisted in the Best Services category and is the only Scilly company to reach that stage of the awards.

Owner, John Peacock, has developed innovative software, which allows his passengers to book online and see when special services are being operated, so they can share the journey costs and reduce fuel consumption.

The software also allows the business to tailor the size of boat to the demand, again saving on fuel.

The system automatically compiles passenger data, which John has to send to the MCA.

John Peacock of St Agnes Boating talks about his system

He’s been given permission to automatically update the agency which cuts down on administration time and he’s now teamed up with a business mentoring scheme, who is helping him sell the software to companies all over the world.

John says he’s already in discussions with a company in Poole to supply the software.

John will hear whether he was won at the awards ceremony in Falmouth on December 7th. If he is successful in the Best Overall category he could go onto a national award in London.
