LEP Board Looking For New Members

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership is looking for a new, non-executive director to sit on their board.

And Diana Mompoloki from the Council’s Economic Development unit, is hoping someone from the islands will take up that role.

Diana says there’s already a nominated member from the Council on the board, who represents the local authority.

But she said it would be good to have someone fighting for the interests of our islands’ businesses too.

At the moment, all the other private sector members on the LEP’s board are from Cornwall.

Diana said they need someone with a business focus but with broad enough experience to guide economic development in Cornwall as well as Scilly.

The LEPs were introduced to replace the Regional Development Agencies and they set the long-term economic strategy for the region, including areas such as business development and transport.

The position is open to anyone from the private or voluntary sector and applications close on 5th December 2012.

Further details can be obtained from Mel Richardson on 01872 22473 or on the LEP website.
