BTEC Students To Hold US-Themed Event At School

Islanders attending a musical at the Five Islands School next Thursday can expect some excellent food and customer service.

The production of ‘Way Up High’ is being directed, staged and catered for by three year 10 BTEC Hospitality students, Daniel Goddard, Ryan Knapman and Alun Anderson.

Ryan is producing and directing the play, which also features a cast of fellow pupils from year 10, and tells the story of a girl who works in an American diner.

Alun has arranged promotion and he’s secured a raft of raffle prizes from local businesses, including dinner, bed and breakfast at Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher.

Daniel has helped provide an authentic American diner-style buffet for people attending the production. He’s been busy researching the food and has come up with a menu that features items such as pizzas and hotdogs.

The performance is ticket-only and sales have been extended until Monday. They’re available from the school reception and the tourist information centre in Hugh Town. Tickets cost £2.50 for children and £3.50 for adults and the American diner-buffet is included in the price.

The event will raise cash for Children in Need.
