Work To Front Of Porthcressa Flats Delayed

Porthcressa Flats

The Council says work to refurbish the front of Porthcressa flats will be delayed as only one contractor applied for the job.

This means the Council has had to readvertise the tender and is unlikely to start the work until later this financial year.

Plans to clean up the front elevations of Porthcressa flats, including refurbishing balconies and store sheds, were approved back in October last year.

However, Councillors at yesterday’s Community Services meeting heard that work is already underway on repairing the front of Museum flats. A survey to identify the source of damp problems in the museum is also being carried out.

There’s also an ongoing programme to refurbish Council properties that weren’t part of the original ‘Decent Homes’ scheme. This includes replacing kitchens, bathrooms and rewiring.
