Government Set Date For Scilly School Investigation

The Five Islands School

The Department for Education has confirmed that its investigators will be arriving in Scilly on 5th November.

They’ll be investigating complaints against the local authority and school governing body regarding procedures at the Five Islands School and the discipline and suspension of staff.

They’ll also be looking at the relationship between the local authority, governors and management and how effectively the school has been run.

Tom Peryer, an Education Adviser for the Department, will lead the investigation.

The DfE has said they’re aware that there is considerable interest in the investigation and will consider how their report’s conclusions can be made available to the public.

I agree with Pat that this is very welcome. I hope that Mr Peryer is well briefed on the current context, and has access to the audit report that ought to be published soon into the circumstances surrounding the suspension of the Headteacher. Does anyone know when this is to be published by the Council?
