Cycle Challenge Paramedic Hit By Bus

Wayne Davey has a broken arm and shoulder blade

The 3100mile charity cycle ride across the USA has come to a dramatic end for two of the team members, tantalisingly close to the finish in New York City.

Islands’ paramedic Wayne Davey was knocked off his bike by a bus last night, just outside Easton in Pennsylvania. The team were around 65 miles from the end of their epic journey, which started in San Diego on September 24th.

Wayne is reported to have a broken arm and shoulder blade, but is otherwise well and is said to be in good spirits.

Teammate Justin Morgan has also pulled out to stay with Wayne.

However, the challenge has been completed by Ben Carthey and John Williams who arrived in Times Square in the early hours of the morning, UK time.

The men had aimed to raise at least £20,000 for various charities including the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund, the Children’s Hospice South West and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
