Council Extends Deadline On New Housing Needs Survey

Recently-constructed social housing on Bryher

The Council is giving islanders another fortnight to fill in its new Housing Needs Survey, the first since 2005.

The survey gives residents a chance to make their views known on a range of housing issues, including affordability and future requirements. People are also asked for their opinion about the need for more housing on the islands and if so, what and how much.

Community Services chairman Richard McCarthy admitted there were technical problems last month when the survey was launched.

“We aimed to give people three weeks in which to fill in their forms but in the end they got less than 10 days,” he said, “so we’ve extended the deadline to October 19th in order to give them a bit more time.”

The survey is available for completion on-line by going to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/IosHousingNeeds

Hard copies of the survey are also available from the One Stop Shop at the Town Hall.

Only one survey should be completed per household.

We need more housing for all the council employees who have been granted key worker status (I hope that reads sarcastically)
