Mainland Hospital Staff Deployed To Scilly

St Mary’s Hospital

Staff from Poltair hospital in Penzance will be temporarily redeployed to St Mary’s hospital to cover a staffing shortage here.

Ongoing recruitment issues and the need to provide safe minimum staffing has led to the temporary closure of the mainland hospital by Peninsula Community Health. They took over the management of fourteen hospitals across our region last October.

It’s felt that mainland-based staff can support our hospital because they too have been struggling to recruit more people.

Chief Executive Kevin Baber says PCH plan to take their recruitment drive national to get teams back to full strength.

It is expected that the national recruitment campaign will be launched within a fortnight.
