Scilly’s Wildlife Trust To Recruit Manager

The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust is looking for a manager.

The new position will be the most senior staff role within the islands-based charity.

Trustee Zoe Julian says the board wanted to find a way to give their islands’ staff more support.

Four years ago they developed a relationship with the Cornwall Trust to buy in some services like accounts and management help but the Trust feel they now need a manager here who understands Scilly and is based here on the islands.

The partnership with Cornwall’s Trust will remain in the interim and they are helping with the recruitment process.

The Charity needs to identify and secure new funding streams from grants and also needs to raise its profile to increase donations. The postholder of the £30,000 a year job will work in these areas as well as becoming the face of the Trust in Scilly.

They’ll have to work closely with the tourist industry here and Zoe says they’ll need good communication and people skills.

The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust covers a large geographic area with a much smaller staff resource than Cornwall, says Zoe, so Trustees felt they needed to bring in a new team member to support existing workers in their roles.

The Duchy of Cornwall has given the Wildlife Trust an undertaking that they will help find appropriate accommodation on the islands.
