Bank Staff Help Brownies Raise Money

Hugh Town’s Barclays employees took time out from their day jobs last week to join the Brownies in support of the Cornish bereavement charity, Penhaligon’s Friends.

The islands’ bank branch and the Brownies raised a well-deserved £345 through a raffle, teddy tombola and cake sale.

The money raised will be matched pound-for-pound, as part of Barclays ‘Charity Begins at Work’ Programme, bringing the total to £690.

Kathy Brown, community relations officer for Barclays, says it’s a fantastic example of Barclays staff fundraising with the local community.

Penhaligon’s friends enable children to meet with others who have had a similar experience, and to help them cope with bereavement.
