Police Arrest Over Internet Theft

A local man has been arrested and charged with theft after he paid for his own transaction by logging onto another local’s online account and using their balance.

The man had access because he knew the password but he did not have permission to spend his friend’s credit.

Officers released and cautioned the St Mary’s resident after he made what Sergeant Colin Taylor calls, “a full and frank confession.”

He’s advising people to change passwords to online accounts if you have fallen out with someone with whom you’d shared an access code.

The amount of money stolen was under £50, but it wasn’t a conditional caution, so the victim may not get their money back.
