Boreholes To Be Drilled For New Desalination Plant

Desalination plant to be replaced

The Council is preparing an upgrade to St Mary’s water supply to cope with future demand.

The existing desalination plant takes water from nine boreholes, which go down around 30 meters, at the back of the beach at Pelistry.

Next January, the new desalination plant will be installed. It will have greater capacity and will require more raw water.

The Town Hall is putting the work, to drill the six new holes down to at least 50m, out to tender. They’ll be adjacent to the existing boreholes.

Applicants need to respond by September 28th and the work will start in November.
