Unique Chants To Be Performed At Church

St Mary’s Parish Church

The unique form of Taizé chants and worship will be presented at St Mary’s Parish Church tomorrow night.

The Taizé (said Tez-ay) Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Burgundy in France.

The style of singing was devised by Roger Louis Schutz-Marsauche known as ‘Brother Roger,’ who founded the order in 1940.

Canon Peter Walker has visited the monastery and has held special services on St Mary’s and at Truro Catherdal previously. H says he wanted to do something special before he ends his two-year service in Scilly at the end of the month.

The service starts at 7.30pm on Sunday. Debbie Crane and Julia MacKenzie will provide the musical accompaniment.
