Charity Cycle Women Looking For Accommodation En-Route

Two women who are cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End for charity are hoping that islanders can find them accommodation on the route.

Kylie Carter and Sarah Twynham will start the 1,000 mile ride from Thurso on 6th October.

Sarah says they’ve already had offers of places to stay, meals and drinks from people with Scilly connections upcountry.

The women intend riding for around seven hours a day and Sarah says it’s daunting because the maximum she’s achieved so far is around three hours. Although she says it is a lot more monotonous riding around St Mary’s.

There are people with Scilly connections all over the country and the two women are hoping they can help provide accommodation during the ride. Sarah says they’ve already had offers of meals and accommodation from people who use Facebook.

Kylie has split up the route into 2 mile stretches and is looking for sponsors to give £2 per mile for each section of the entire ride.

They’re hoping to raise £4,000 for St Mary’s League of Friends and Cancer Research UK. The League wants to buy for a mobile heart monitor that can be used in people’s homes.

Sponsor forms are available at St Mary’s bike hire.

We can offer a bed and food here at the Smugglers Inn to the girls if they need either at this point. We are 200yards from Newquay Airport.
