Tresco Tack Postponed Due To Weather

The Tresco Tack sailing race from St Mary’s to Tresco fell victim to the wind yesterday.

Mark Underwood of the Sailing Club says the forecast indicated that the return could have proved problematic.

There was a healthy turn out for the race briefing at the Sailing Club at 10am but Mark says all agreed that it was wise to postpone

They did hold a two lap ‘just for fun’ race from the harbour mouth, to the Bacon and around Nut Rock. Eleven confident craft made the start with several more deciding not to race prior to the start.

There were eight finishers with a further three retiring during the race. Those that raced enjoyed some fresh and challenging sailing.

Mark says the Tresco event, which was devised a close-of-season race for locals and visitors, has been rescheduled for Sunday 23rd.

Last year’s event was also cancelled and rescheduled because of weather conditions.
