School PTA Holding AGM On Monday

The Five Islands School

The Five Islands school Parents and Teachers Association will be holding its AGM on Monday and they’re looking for new members to sign up to the group.

Current chair, Sam Mallon, says they need around ten people who are prepared to stand on the committee, including the role of chair, treasurer and secretary.

Sam, who intends to stand again for the committee, says they’ve lost a few members recently and they’re keen to find a few more volunteers including a team of helpers who don’t want to be on the committee but can help out at events.

They’d also be happy to find more teachers to join. Anna Wild is currently the only teacher on the committee.

Sam says it doesn’t take a massive amount of time and she finds the work incredibly rewarding. She says the highlight of the year for her was the Year 6 leavers party. Sam says she came home exhausted and her ears were ringing but it was so much fun for all those involved.

Sam says they’re also going to improve their communication this year by writing a regular update in the school magazine, the Western Eye.

The AGM is taking place on Monday at 7.30pm in the school café.
