Rain Clears For Tresco Fete

The weather may have put off some locals and visitors from attending the Tresco fete yesterday, but organisers still hope to bring in around £4,500.

This year, two causes, the Community Centre and the Tresco and Bryher gig club are set to benefit.

Nicola Christopher says all island residents seemed get behind the event. She said it felt like the whole island came out “in full force” to help with the fete.

And she says some stalls did exceptionally well, particularly the one selling candy floss!

Richard Hobbs has run the barbeque for years and says it offered a local flavour, serving all Tresco-raised beef and he doesn’t think the poor weather in the morning affected attendance at the lunchtime event.

He hasn’t counted the cash yet but hopes they’ll equal or exceed last year’s takings.
