Rotarians Saddened By Death Of Shelterbox Founder’s Wife

The Islands’ Rotary Club has expressed their sadness at the death of the wife of the ShelterBox founder.

Jane Henderson died suddenly last Friday from a suspected heart attack.

ShelterBox, which delivers vital survival equipment to disaster areas around the world, was set up by her husband Tom Henderson. He was awarded an OBE in 2010 for his work.

Rotarian, Tim Guthrie, said Jane visited the islands regularly with Tom and had many friends here, including Bridget Larn who grew up with her in the same town in Ireland.

Tim said this was very sad news and follows the death recently of another of the charity’s founder members, George Armstrong.

Tim says that while both will be sadly missed for their support for the charity, he was sure that it‘s now so big that their work will be continued by others in the future.
